Kosher Meal Plan at John Jay Dining Hall

Our Kosher Meal Plan program was launched at John Jay Dining Hall in Fall 2004. Those who participate are allowed access to a kosher area within John Jay, allowing them to enjoy meals right alongside their Columbia classmates and friends. The menu varies each day, but generally includes pasta, fish and vegetables for brunch, and meats, vegetables, side dishes and desserts for dinner. Any student who participates in any meal plan (whether it’s a first-year plan or an upperclass, GS or graduate student plan) can elect to enroll in Columbia's kosher meal plan for an additional 10% fee (complete costs included on the Meal Plan Comparison Chart).

The Kosher Deli

The Kosher Deli is Columbia’s only all-Kosher dining location, offering students a flexible menu of traditional Kosher deli items like sandwiches, salads, soups and snacks, and even vegan offerings. Its convenient location in John Jay Dining Hall makes it easy for students to grab a bite on their way to and from class.

Retail Locations

Kosher items are available at most of the retail locations on campus and include everything from grab-n-go sandwiches to gourmet spreads and salads by Sabra. We’re constantly looking for fresh ideas to improve retail kosher offerings, so please send your suggestions to eats@columbia.edu.

You can also visit Café Nana, a kosher restaurant/lounge launched, operated, and managed by five Columbia and Barnard students, on the second floor of the Columbia/Barnard Hillel - Kraft Center. The hours of the café are Monday–Thursday 8:00am–11:00pm, Friday 8:00am–2 hours before the Sabbath (changes as the hours of sundown change) and Sunday 9:00am–11:00pm.
